How the treatment works
A gentle, outpatient procedure.
An outpatient procedure of about two hours that fits comfortably into a normal day. An access point at each inner elbow draws blood out and returns it, so that outside the body it passes through a highly specialised filter system: the plasma is separated, selectively filtered, and returned together with the blood cells. No additional donor albumin or plasma is required.
NEMC typically recommends two treatments, 48 hours to one week apart.
